For a team that has been so strong in recent years, Manchester City are going through somewhat of an unexpected slump during the 2024/25 season. The group has already lost six Premier League matches with their most recent setback a crushing 4-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur. This would represent a third in four league games and five defeats on the bounce for Pep Guardiola — an unwanted first since he became City boss. Key players from them in Rodri and Kevin De Bruyne all out stricken with injury has weakened the midfield of City hence this lead to a dire situation for Pep Guardiola as they are unable even to control matches. Even on the ball they are struggling to finish plays and score goals. Results in the Champions League too, were inconsistent as they navigated through a tough campaign. Fans are getting nervous… but Guardiola remains optimistic. It is a measure of the relentless nature of this campaign that City’s domination has been severely tested, and capturing disequilibrium-persevering success at such an elevated level should be considered all the more rewarding.
