Echeverri’s transfer to City is timely for the club during a congested part of the season. Though the team is battling on multiple fronts, Guardiola will decide whether the teenager is ready to make an immediate impression or would be best served by a loan move to further his progress. As one of the world’s elite leagues, English football will be a massive challenge to adjust to for the youngster.

Yet City has a good track record of improving young players. The likes of Rico Lewis and Phil Foden have thrived under Guardiola, and there is optimism that Echeverri will be able to do the same. His footballing intelligence and technical ability are suited to the way that City play and he is an exciting signing for the club.

Echeverri is an attacking midfielder by and large but is versatile enough to be deployed in a variety of roles across the front line. Though young and lacking experience in European soccer, his performances at youth level show that he has the potential to be a star
If it is determined by City that Echeverri needs more game time before breaking into the first team a loan move would be a possibility. Several European clubs would likely be interested in securing the services of the highly rated Argentine on a temporary basis.
The adaptation from South America to Europe is never straightforward for young players but Echeverri has all the tools necessary to succeed at the highest level. With Guardiola to mentor him he now has the perfect environment to develop into a world class midfielder.
